Chronos Chromos Concrete/ 2003 / Royal College of Art

Process: This colouring changing concrete technology was developed through an interest in trying to redefine the most typical characteristics of concrete. When someone builds with concrete they assume that structure will remain unchanged for years to come. By developing a way to make the concrete surface have a perceivable dynamic character, the material becomes easier for people to relate to.

The final product ended up being a sculpted wave of concrete which had the color change travel along the wave echoing the form itself.

This concept one first place in the British Cement Associations Concrete Design Competition.
Skills: materials exploration, concrete molding and pouring, pic chip programming. programming electronics.
